In a tweet this morning, the official New World account made an announcement addressing the game’s development. Among other things like its highly valued user support for the game throughout the closed beta. Worth noting is that this is by far the shortest delay that the game has seen. Which is a bit of potentially uplifting insight to those looking forward to the release.
New World has been delayed until late September
The development team says this wasn’t an easy decision to make. However, it seems to value the launch of a quality game more than getting the game into people’s hands as soon as possible. A pitfall many a developer have had trouble with. Though hardly the first game to see huge issues due to a rushed launch, CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 can be used as a cautionary tale – take your time.

During the beta, New World also became a highly popular game. Climbing the ranks of Steam’s most played list, while also becoming of the most watched games on Twitch. According to the team, New World was collectively played for more than 25 million hours during its closed beta period.
