Epic Games is calling it ‘Epic Achievements’
The current Epic Games achievement system isn’t much more than racking up XP points. It doesn’t really give you the feeling of satisfaction that other systems would give you. Consequently, it falls to the back of the mind. Next week, we can expect to see the new system rolling out. When it launches, the new system will only work with a handful of games including Rocket League, Hades, Pillars of Eternity, Kena, Zombie Army 4, and Alan Wake Remastered. There will be more games, but Epic did not specify. According to Epic Games, the company has been working on the new achievements system for a while. It states that last year, it started partnering with a bunch of different games on this new system. This means that it may have made this decision shortly after launching the current system.
This new system will have four tiers of achievements
The achievements will be broken up into distinct tiers based on the number of XP points you accrue. They follow the bronze (5-45 XP), silver (50-95 XP), gold (100-200XP), and platinum(250+ XP) system. Like any achievement system, there will be certain tasks that you have to do in each game. Completing these tasks will award you a certain amount of XP points. The harder the task, the more XP points you get.
You’ll be able to share and keep track of your Epic Achievements progress
It’s going to be pretty easy to keep an eye on your progress with the achievements detail page. There, you should be able to see how many XP points you have, how many achievements you’ve unlocked, your level, and your progress on each achievement. One neat thing Epic Games will do is actually highlight achievements that you’re close to unlocking. There has to be a social element to everything, and this includes Epic Achievements. The company hasn’t said exactly how yet, but you’ll be able to share your progress with other people. You’ll most likely be able to share it within the Epic Games platform or through social media platforms such as Twitter. People who have been wanting a proper achievement system don’t have long to wait. Xbox, PlayStation, even Android games have achievements, so it’s about time that Epic Games upped its game.
