As of this writing, the February update for the Galaxy Note 10 duo is rolling out to the carrier-locked variants on Xfinity Mobile’s network. But it shouldn’t be long before units on other networks also start receiving the new OTA (over the air) update. You can be on the lookout for a new software package with firmware version N97xUSQS7GVA1, or something along that line. Users of unlocked Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ phones can also expect to receive the latest security update in the coming days. On that note, the new SMR should soon reach the devices in markets outside the US as well. The February security update should also reach more Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the coming weeks. First released to the Galaxy Note 20 series in late January, Samsung has also seeded the latest SMR to the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy A50s, Galaxy A51, and now, the Galaxy Note 10 series. The company, however, has yet to publish the updated security bulletin with detailed content of the February SMR. We expect the company to share those details in a few days. As always, the new security patch should bring fixes for several dozen vulnerabilities from both Samsung and Google. We will let you know when we have the detailed information.
Galaxy Note 10 duo will not receive Android OS updates anymore
Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ in the second half of 2019. The devices came running Android 9 Pie out of the box. They have since received updates to Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12. Meaning, the devices have picked up the promised three major Android OS updates. Going forward, they will only receive security updates, at least for one more year. Meanwhile, if you’re rocking one of these three-year-old S Pen-wielding Galaxy flagships, you can navigate to Settings > Software update on your phone and tap on Download and install to check for the new update. If there’s no update available, check back again later. Note that it could take a few days for OTA updates to reach all eligible devices in a region. You may also receive a notification about the OTA update once it becomes available for your phone.
