These are not big time cable channels, they are normally ones that would be included OTA if you have an updated antenna. But still nice to have, especially without any sort of price increase. fuboTV’s VP, Marisa Elizondo stated that “Today’s launch gives consumers a new streaming option to watch these top Scripps channels and further diversifies fuboTV’s growing programming line-up.” Included in this new carriage agreement are the following channels: ION, ION Mystery, ION Plus, Bounce, Grit, Newsy and Court TV. This carriage deal could be huge for fuboTV in the future
While this carriage deal seems kind of small right now, it could turn into a big deal later on down the road. That’s because Scripps has been exploring bidding on media rights for local sports teams. And with Bally Sports reportedly getting ready to declare for bankruptcy, this could happen sooner rather than later. And if Scripps does pick up some local sports rights, it could open the door for fuboTV to be one of the only streaming TV services with local sports. Of course, that would be local sports in specific markets and not nationwide.
