The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will sport a circular Super AMOLED display. On top of it, Samsung will reportedly slap a sapphire glass panel for protection. Sapphire is a premium material that is more resistant to scratches and cracks than the regular glass panels found on most smartphones and smartwatches. It is quite expensive too and is used in luxury products including smartwatches from various brands. To match a sapphire glass top, Samsung will also house the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro internals in a titanium case. This is a premium material too, which suggests the Korean brand is strategically targeting the new smartwatch in the high-end market. The same source has also claimed that the upcoming Samsung smartwatch will feature noticeable bezels around the screen. That suggests the device will get the company’s signatory rotating bezel. But there’s no confirmation on that yet. Regardless of whether the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will feature a rotating bezel, the device could come quite chunky. Earlier reports suggest the new wearable will pack a huge, 572mAh battery. We are also expecting an improved processor, enhanced health features, and the unified Wear OS 3 software. Samsung could be looking to stuff it with all the latest and best that it has up its sleeves. There were expectations that Samsung will include a body temperature sensor (thermometer) on the Galaxy Watch 5 series. But industry watchers believe the company isn’t yet ready with the algorithm for the feature. We will likely find out soon.
Galaxy Watch 5 series will launch in the second half of 2022
Samsung will launch the Galaxy Watch 5 series in the second half of the year. We are expecting the company to unveil the new smartwatches in August or September. The wearables will come alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and galaxy Z Flip 4 foldables. It’s unclear though whether Samsung will launch three Galaxy Watch 5 models or only two. There have been reports that the new Pro model will replace the existing Classic model, though some reports claim they will co-exist. Based on recent developments, we will see three smartwatches from Samsung later this year. We will keep you updated with any new information that emerges in the coming weeks.
