The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is tipped to offer wider displays than its predecessor
What he doesn’t know is what type of hinge will be used. On one hand, it would make sense to use a waterdrop hinge, as that would decrease the crease. That’s what several other companies did. Ross Young did say that water and dust resistance is really important to Samsung, and that it’s not included with the waterdrop hinge design, unless some new tech is used. So, chances are Samsung won’t use such a hinge, but we’ll see. Now, if you’re wondering how wide will the phone’s displays be, well, Ross Young didn’t reveal that. Ice Universe did add that the phone’s internal screen ratio will be “closer to a square”, and not a 5:4 aspect as on the Z Fold 3. That doesn’t reveal much, as it says the same thing Ross Young reported, but there you go.
The device is also expected to be a bit more affordable this time around
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 puzzle is slowly coming together. Mr. Young did tweet out yesterday that both the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 may be more affordable than their predecessors. He also suggested that Samsung is expecting to sell quite a bit more units than last year. Both of those smartphones are expected to arrive in August this year, exactly a year after the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Nothing has been confirmed yet, though, of course. Considering that the Z Fold 4 will offer wider displays, it probably means it won’t be as tall as the Z Fold 3 was. That also means that it will be wider when folded, and thus easier to type on. We’re not sure what will be the situation with the Z Flip 3, though. We don’t have nearly as much information about it, but chances are it will have similar dimensions to its predecessor.
