The Google Pixel Watch Services app will enable seamless performance improvements
Google debuted the Pixel Watch yesterday with deep Fitbit integration, which it acquired a couple of years back, for advanced health and fitness features. The company claims the wearable to boast its most accurate heart rate tracking yet. It uses on-device machine learning with processor-level deep optimization for accurate measurements. The watch can continuously measure your heart rate once every second. The first-gen Google smartwatch also offers an ECG (electrocardiogram) feature to detect signs of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). Additionally, the company leveraged Fitbit’s expertise in the health and fitness sector to develop accurate sleep-monitoring tech for the Pixel Watch. The Fitbit app gives you insights into health metrics like your breathing rate, heart rate variability, and more for easy tracking. If you sign up for Fitbit Premium, which is $9.99 monthly or $79.99 annually, you get deeper insights into your health metrics. It also gives you access to features like a Daily Readiness Score that tells you whether your body is fully recovered and ready for an intense workout session or if you need to prioritize rest. Fitbit Premium further offers over 1,000 workouts and 400 mindfulness sessions. Powering all these features is the four-year-old Exynos 9110 processor from Samsung. This chipset originally debuted on the first-gen Galaxy Watch back in August 2018. Google is pairing it with a Cortex M33 co-processor on the Pixel Watch. The company is also developing a fall-detection feature for its first-ever smartwatch. It will roll out early next year. The Emergency SOS feature will be available out of the box, though. If you’re planning to buy the Pixel Watch, it is now available for pre-order. The Wi-Fi model costs $350 while the LTE model is priced at $400.
