It’s a pretty straightforward feature that lets you mark certain tasks as favorites so you see them first wherever you open the app. Once it goes live, a new “star” button will appear alongside each task in a list. You can tap the button to mark a task as important, which will turn the star blue. You can also “star” a task right when you’re creating it in Google Tasks, so you don’t have to find it in the list and tap the star button to mark it as important. All of your starred tasks will appear under the Starred tab at the beginning. The app even lets you make new entries directly into this tab. This will make it easier for users to keep track of their most important tasks for the day, or week. As the XDA report notes, this new ability will be particularly useful for power users who have many tasks and lists seven in Google Tasks. But anyone can benefit from it, of course.
Google Tasks is getting better
Since the launch of the standalone mobile apps in April 2018, Google Tasks has grown into quite a powerful productivity tool. It has been gradually picking up new features, making it one of the best to-do apps you can find in the Google Play Store. In October last year, the app gained Google Calendar integration. This allowed users to create new tasks right from the Calendar app. You can add every detail including title, time, date, and more, regardless of whether or not you have Tasks installed on your device. That addition was followed by a new tab bar earlier this month. It made switching between various task lists much easier and efficient. And now, we are getting another handy feature that will help users quickly access their most important chores. It’s unclear when Google will publicly roll out this ability to star tasks in Google Tasks. Since the guys at XDA could enable the feature and use it as well, it shouldn’t take very long for the company to make it officially available to users. We will be keeping a tab on this and let you know when it goes live.
