The Huawei Hisilicon chips will make a comeback in 2022
The company teased the return of HiSilicon processors in 2022. The company published an official poster on Weibo, a Chinese social media network. You can check out that poster below.
Not much is known about the operation at the moment. What we do know, however, is that Huawei’s HiSilicon processors were amongst the best in the market, before the ban ruined the operation. Some of Huawei’s flagship HiSilicon chips even beat Qualcomm’s Snapdragon flagships. They were great to have around from the competition standpoint as well, and it’s good to see they’re coming back. We’re not sure what is Huawei’s plan here, though. The US ban is still in effect, and Huawei is limited as it is. Let’s take the Huawei P50 Pocket as an example. That phone includes the Snapdragon 888, but it’s limited to 4G connectivity.
It remains to be seen what is Huawei’s plan
We’re not sure how Huawei aims to avoid the US ban, and really let its chips shine, but we’ll see. The company wouldn’t make a big deal out of this if it didn’t have a plan in place, of course. Now, a rumor appeared in China, that Huawei’s next HiSilicon chip will be called the HiSilicon Skylight 800. The company was quick to squash that rumor, though. The company didn’t say it won’t use the ‘Skylight’ branding for its upcoming chips, but it simply said that this particular rumor is false. We’re not sure when exactly will Huawei bring HiSilicon back, but this is the year it’ll happen. So, all we can do at this point is wait and see. Let’s just hope that flagship processors are in Huawei’s plans, as that’s where they shined in the past.
