The renders come courtesy of Evleaks, telling us pretty much everything we need to know about the Xiaomi 12’s design. We’re also getting confirmation that the smartphone uses a 6.28-inch curved screen accompanied by a hole-punch selfie camera. Interestingly, the green variant of the Xiaomi 12 appears to have a leather rear panel. This is the so-called Vegan Leather, by the way, not real leather. We’ve seen this implemented by companies in the past. Meanwhile, the remaining two color variants shown in the renders have standard back covers. The leather version could be marketed as a limited edition offering at launch.
The Xiaomi 12 lineup will break cover on December 28, 2021
Based on previous render leaks, we’ve learned that the Xiaomi 12 will sport a triple camera layout on the back. The new renders confirm this, showing a massive 50-megapixel primary sensor with two smaller sensors positioned vertically. There’s also the conventional dual-LED flash onboard here. Older leaks have told us that the Xiaomi 12 would feature an AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The device would also support Dolby Vision and HDR10+ by default. The phone will expectedly utilize Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset while offering UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. The 50-megapixel primary rear camera will be accompanied by a 13-megapixel sensor, while information on the third camera is scarce at the moment. All cameras should be capable of offering 30x digital, 10x hybrid zoom, and at least 3x optical zoom as per leaks. Optical image stabilization or OIS should be on board as well. A 4,500mAh battery should be powering the device, which reportedly supports 30W wireless charging and wired charging at up to 67W. Xiaomi confirmed this week that it would unveil its flagship lineup on December 28, 2021. In addition to the standard Xiaomi 12, the manufacturer will also release the Xiaomi 12 Pro which supports 120W fast charging, and the mid-range Xiaomi 12X. With just a few days left for the release of the new smartphone lineup, the mystery shouldn’t last long.
