‘Dual Connection’ feature is rolling out to the OnePlus Buds Pro
As per usual when it comes to such an update, it is rolling out in stages. It is possible the feature still didn’t arrive to your earbuds. If it didn’t, it should be there soon, though. So, what does it do? Well, it allows the Buds Pro to be connected to two devices simultaneously. It also enables the earbuds to automatically switch between them, depending on which plays audio at the time. When the update lands, a toggle to enable Dual Connection will appear in the Bluetooth settings. You can also use the HeyMelody app in order to enable it. That toggle is shown in the image below.
OnePlus also announced ‘Mithril’ OnePlus Buds Pro variant
Now, aside from rolling out this feature to the existing OnePlus Buds Pro, the company announced a new variant of the earbuds. That variant is the same as the existing ones, but it comes in a different color. The variant we’re talking about is called ‘Mithril’. These silver OnePlus Buds Pro earbuds have been announced in China, during the OnePlus 10 Pro launch. We’re not sure if they’ll be coming to more markets, but it’s possible. The only difference between ‘Mithril’ OnePlus Buds Pro, and the other two variants, is in the color. These earbuds are also the same color all the way around, they don’t combine two shades.
The company utilized ‘non-conductive vacuum metallization’ here
The coating for these earbuds is made through NCVM (non-conductive vacuum metallization), which adds a metallic effect. OnePlus also applied a fingerprint-resistant coating on them, to try and keep your fingerprints away. They still have all the goodies included in the original OnePlus Buds Pro, including 11mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 with SBC, AAC, and LHDC v3 codec support. The Mithril OnePlus Buds Pro have the same price as Black and White variants in China. They cost CNY799 ($125), and if they come to more markets, chances are they’ll match the price tag of other OnePlus Buds Pro variants.
