The Android 13 rollout for the Galaxy Tab Active 3 has begun in Europe. More precisely, the rugged tablet is picking up the new release in Switzerland with firmware version T575XXU3EVK7 (via). It should now be just a matter of time before Samsung covers units across the globe, including the US. The US version comes with the model number SM-T577U. For Galaxy Tab Active 3 users in Europe, or at least Switzerland, this update bundles the November security patch. Last month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patched more than 60 vulnerabilities. Samsung recently released the December SMR with 80 vulnerability fixes. While that isn’t reaching the Galaxy Tab Active 3 yet, the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 has plenty of other goodies. Samsung has improved the aesthetics of One UI with bolder app icons featuring subtle background gradients and improved contrast. System animations and transition effects are now smoother while blur effects and colors have been enhanced for a clearer and more consistent experience. There are more customization and wallpaper options as well. On top of this, we have tons of new features to look forward to.
This is the final major Android OS release for the Galaxy Tab Active 3
Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab Active 3 back in September 2020. The rugged tablet came with Android 10 onboard. It has since picked up updates to Android 11, Android 12, and now, Android 13. This is the final major Android OS release for it. The device will not get Android 14. Even security updates will come less frequently as it gets older. Samsung is currently seeding quarterly security patches to the device but may drop it to the biannual pack in the coming months. Nonetheless, if you’re rocking this ultra-durable Android tablet from Samsung, the latest version of Android is headed your way. The Korean firm has been rather quick in releasing the big Android update to its devices this year. Watch out for a notification in the coming days or head over to Settings > Software update and tap on Download and install to manually check for updates. Install the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update and start exploring all the goodies!
