Oppo VP Henry Duan has revealed that the company will debut the new MediaTek SoC with its next Find X flagship. That would presumably be the Oppo Find X4 series. However, the Chinese firm has already confirmed that the Find X4 Pro will use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. So the Vanilla Find X4 will likely get the Dimensity 9000. Or maybe the company will go Samsung’s controversial way of using different chipsets in the same phone in different markets. We hope it wouldn’t. Additionally, according to a new report, Vivo, Honor, Xiaomi, and Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi also plan to launch products with Dimensity 9000 early next year. Redmi has already confirmed that it will use the new MediaTek processor in the Redmi K50 series, though it didn’t reveal which model. It will presumably be the K50 Gaming Edition. There’s no word on which devices from the other three OEMs will feature the Dimensity 9000. But given that the Vivo X70 used the Dimensity 1200, it’s quite likely that the Vivo X80 will get the new processor. Xiaomi, meanwhile, could equip its Mi 11 series successors with the new MediaTek chipset, though the Snapdgaron 8 Gen 1 is a more probable candidate. Perhaps the Chinese phone maker will split the two SoCs between different markets. As for Honor, the company is just entering the flagship smartphone market following its split from Huawei. So it’s anybody’s guess what product it will launch with the Dimensity 9000 next year.

MediaTek is looking to topple Qualcomm in the flagship segment with the Dimensity 9000

MediaTek may have overthrown Qualcomm as the world’s largest smartphone chipset vendor, but the latter still holds an upper hand in the flagship segment. That’s because MediaTek didn’t have a product that could rival the American chip giant’s Snapdragon 8 series solutions. But the new Dimensity 9000 is expected to bring a change of fortune for the Taiwanese company. On paper, the Dimensity 9000 appears powerful enough to give Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 a run for its money. However, real-world performance is a whole new battleground. If it manages to match or even better the Snapdragon chip in day-to-day performance, MediaTek could be well on course to topple Qualcomm from the top spot in the flagship segment as well. The war of chips is heating up nicely.
