The Vivo X80 series will launch globally on May 8
This confirmation comes from Vivo Malaysia, by the way. Both devices are expected to make their way to a number of other countries, though, not just Malaysia. Vivo is using the “X-tion with Speed” tagline for this launch event.
The global variants of these two phones will likely be almost identical to the China ones. They will include Vivo’s global software build, of course. In other words, Funtouch OS will be included instead of Origin OS. The two devices do look almost the same. Their specs are not identical, of course, but there are quite a few similarities between them. The Vivo X80 Pro was announced in both Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Dimensity 9000 variants, while the Vivo X80 is fueled by the Dimensity 9000 only. It remains to be seen if Vivo will keep the same setup globally. Both phones utilize LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage, while both include 120Hz displays. The Pro model’s display is sharper, and better overall.
ZEISS optics, 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and more
The Vivo X80 Pro also comes with a more compelling camera setup, while both devices include ZEISS optics and the V1+ image processing unit. 80W fast wired charging is included in both phones, but only the ‘Pro’ variant supports 50W wireless charging as well. You’re also getting a set of compelling stereo speakers here, while Android 12 comes pre-installed on both devices. Both devices include curved displays, extremely thin bezels, and a centered display camera hole. In China, variants with both glass backs and Vegan Leather backplates were introduced. It remains to be seen if the same will be the case globally, or will Vivo stick to glass only.
