Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel has over 10,000 cards to use
Yu-Gi-Oh, much like Pokemon, has created so many characters over the years that it’s impossible to keep track of them. This is why a modern adaptation of the trading card game is in order. Previous games exist, but most of them weren’t able to be updated to add on new cards and monsters. Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel is a game that Konami hyped up as being the complete game that fully captures the spirit of the original car game. Last summer, Konami announced the game for just about everything platform under the sun (PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, Switch, Steam, iOS, and Android). At the time, the company was already offering Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Link. That’s a mobile version of the game, but it wasn’t really a full-fledged game. It was more of a “lite” version of Yu-Gi-Oh that was meant for quick play. Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel is promised to have the full package. According to the Google Play description, there are over 10,000 cards in the game that you can choose from. Suffice to say, that’s quite a few. And, it means that if you’re an avid duelist, you should find all of your monsters in the game.
How does it play?
If you’re familiar with the rules, then you should feel right at home. You’re drawing and placing monster cards, magic cards, and trap cards and activating them just as you would in the physical game. If you’re new to the game, don’t worry; you’re taken through a tutorial section. Just know that since this is a modern game, you will run into the classic mobile game idiosyncracies for better or worse. There are in-game currencies, in-app purchases, and probably other paywalls. It’s tough to say if those will get in the way of gameplay, but it’s something to be aware of. If you want to play this game, it’s free on the Google Play store. The app download is under 150MB, but once you pass the tutorial, you’ll be downloading an additional 1.9GB, so be wary of that.
